BHF UMOD Study
High blood pressure (hypertension) is common and often difficult to treat. Currently the initial choice of medication is based upon a person’s age and ethnic background however only around half of patients given an individual drug will respond.
This study aims to establish if people with different genetic make-up (genotype) respond better or worse to the blood pressure lowering drug torasemide. If people with different genetic make-up respond differently to drugs then in the future we may be better able to choose the best drug for each person.
